INFECTIOUS DISEASES PHYSICIAN

Dr. Shanti Narayanasamy is an infectious diseases physician consulting at Melbourne Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Specialists, the Austin Hospital, Epworth Richmond and Epworth Freemasons hospitals.

Shanti obtained a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science with Honors in History from Monash University and subsequently completed a medical degree (MBBS) at the Australian National University. She undertook basic physicians training and infectious diseases training at leading hospitals in Melbourne and Darwin, and undertook a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Liverpool, UK). Shanti completed a Master of Science (Global Health) and an Infectious Diseases and Global Health Fellowship at Duke University, North Carolina and remains affiliated as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke Global Health Institute. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the Burnet Institute and University of Melbourne.

Dr Narayanasamy has experience in all aspects of infectious diseases, with particular interests in travel and tropical medicine and infections in immunocompromised individuals. Her clinical practice is informed by her background in global health and epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship and equity of care delivery.
